About Us

Golden Lasso Games is a game studio dedicated to creating products that facilitate inclusive and creative roleplaying experiences. Our first game, Decuma, won a gold ENnie in 2023.

We believe that games should be for everyone. In a hobby often dominated by a traditional masculine lens, we strive to produce games that can capture other points of view. We always to work with majority marginalized teams and are proud to be completely woman-owned and operated.

Our games are brought to life with the wonderful support of our fans through crowdfunding campaigns. We are eternally grateful for their enthusiasm and faith in our work.

  • Ethical Manufacturing

    We only work with factories that provide safe, comfortable working conditions and fair pay to their workers. Our production partners are ISO and BSCI certified as proof of them meeting international standards for worker rights.

  • Sustainable Production

    We believe in climate change and combatting it. We only produce games with FSC-certified materials, ensuring that they come form responsibly managed forests, and consider the environment with our shipping and packaging too!

  • Amplifying Marginalized Voices

    We are dedicated to partnering with creators from marginalized communities for our projects and amplifying their voices, with a special focus on creators with marginalized genders.

  • Fair Pay

    We love collaborating with talented individuals from all over the globe and are committed to paying all of our artists, writers, and consultants a fair wage for their valuable time and effort.

  • Accessibility

    We work to ensure that our tabletop games are as accessible as possible. We work with accessibility consultants for our physical and digital products.

  • No AI

    We are against the use of so-called "AI" for commercial purposes and recreational use. AI tools are built on the back of uncredited, unpaid creators whose work is used without their consent. It is also a major threat to the environment regardless of how it is used.

Kimi Hughes

Kimi is the owner and lead designer at Golden Lasso games. Her first published game, Decuma, raised nearly $55,000 on Kickstarter and won a gold ENnie in 2023. She was chosen for the prestigious Game Manufacturers Association’s Horizons Fellowship. She currently serves as co-chair of the GAMA Pathways Committee, which facilitates financial support of game designers of diverse backgrounds, and is a member of the GAMA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Kimi also runs the Happy Jacks RPG Network of streams and podcasts, producing and hosting a top 200 “games” podcast and dozens of successful actual plays in as many tabletop RPG systems. She will forever be grateful for the enthusiastic Happy Jacks community who support all of her design and game publication endeavors.
